After all my anticipation of looking forward to the Hot Rod Power Tour, I have once again missed my opportunity. I had three problems in this year’s venture.
1. I have been industriously working on some things that are muy importante’. These really cannot just be dropped but could have been worked around. sigh Such is life I guess…
2. Being scattered as I have been due to #1, I had forgotten that the tour would be closest to me today. I had thought that it was coming to Somerset Saturday. (Way to go Dave)
3. The biggest reason that I have missed this phenomenal event can be summed up in one word. RAIN!!!!!!!!!! About the time that they had reached their destination, a huge front had wound its way to me and all around. I am not talking a drizzle here. I am talking about rain, flash flooding on roads, and significant damage in some areas. The first two reasons could possibly have been worked around, but the third is it. Three strikes and I am out.
In spite of my “missed the Hot Rod Power Tour again” woes, I (and you can follow it quite extensively at the Hot Rod Power Tour Official Site.) have been following the tour through the web. Here you can see coverage for the previous stops and even view live footage as they travel from site to site. While viewing you can chat with other viewers and even the staff as they cruise from origin to destination. I have caught some of the live viewing (have to work, can’t watch it all day) and found it to be interesting and a good way to become a zombie. After a while you even get that “been in the car too long” feeling. Surprisingly, response from the Hot Rod staff is quick and informative. They have one destination left, Bristol, TN. Nope, I won’t be going to that one either. sigh again
