What is starting to become a tradition, continued again this year. Me and my father both got new motorcycles around the same time several years back. They are both DR650’s. Well I decided for one year, to spend Father's Day with my dad by going on a ride together. This has continued on since. We both really enjoy the trip and just some time together. My mom often comes with us just to ensure that we do not get lost or stay out too long. She also tends to be the one that makes sure that we have places to go and not just wander around aimlessly. It is really nice to find something that both me and my father really enjoy and being able to share this together. We work together, so finding some form of leisure is a fresh breath of air for us both. Here is a light overview of the trip:
This trip started out with the rescue of a terrapin. These are also called “box turtles”. Why do they always want to cross the road anyway?
Here he is placed on the side that, I hope, he was going for. I even set him up with some berries to help him on his journey.
We found this along the way, a honeybee tree hive! Wow! That is not something that you see very often anymore. You would have to look close to see them swarming the tree opening. I did not want to get any closer for the pic, for obvious reasons.
These are some really old tombstones, that due to their shape, are said to have human like ghosts to appear from them on a full moon. WICKED!
We had a massive storm last night and you can see that the creeks were up and muddy.
A really old train track that Mother Nature has started to reclaim.
We concluded the adventure with a late lunch at my house that my wonderful wife fixed. We then talked, played with my kids, and watched The Incredibles (if you have not seen it, you must).
All in all this was a great Father’s Day trip. It was kind of a bummer that my brother did not get to go with us due to his motorcycle being messed up, but hey maybe he can next year. Was not the same without you Nate.
