Fate Stay Night

Fate_Stay_Night

I don’t really get into hard core anime, but there are some that really strike my interest.  Usually Nathan suggests which ones that he believes will be interesting to me.  So far he has yet to fail in his intuition of what would appeal to me.  The latest anime that he has suggested is a series called Fate Stay Night.  It has a mixture of epic heroes, magic, sword play, religions, and magic.  This combination surely would seem impossible to combine without being offensive in some way.  It is quite the contrary, however.  It’s allusions to any one particular attribute is not so “hard core” that the series is entirely relying on it’s foundations to make up the entire plot of the show.  Instead, it uses the major sources from all attributes to make up a dramatic story line with dynamic characters.  I have yet to finish the show, but at the rate that we (Me and Becky) are consuming the series, it will be quite soon when we have watched them all.

I have thus far really enjoyed the whole experience.  The symbolism and references to olden days along with all the mythical stories of these times makes the series as much mystery as action adventure.  The revelation of each new character generates new excitement in the series.  So far I would highly recommend it to anyone with an open mind.  I will conclude my criticisms of the series once it is done.

NBC made their decision on Chuck

Well as a follow up to my VERY recent entry, NBC made the announcement today about the third season of Chuck.  Chuck will see a third season but with a slimming down of their budget.  Some characters may see a little less time on air and others may take a hiatus for weeks at a time.  Nonetheless, there will be at least 13 more shows coming soon.  I have read that the writers and producers have already been planning this season for quite time in the hopes that it would occur.  So congrats Chuck.  Good call NBC.  I can only hope that this season will be as good as subsequent seasons.  You can read more about this on Chuck’s (Zachary Levi) website.

Chuck

A pic taken from the cover of the first season another chuck pic

I have been watching a show lamely entitled “Chuck”.  It is all about a nerd that works at the Buy More (looks oddly like a Best Buy) and stumbles into the world of secret agents, spies, and near global destruction.  The show is funny while still have some romance and wonderful character development.  It comes on NBC at around 8:00.  I was mildly interested and my brother lent me his copy of the first season.  What a shock.  We all liked the show so much, that after devouring the first season in near record time, I looked for the second season only to discover that it had not yet been released.  Thank God for Hulu.  (those not familiar with Hulu should visit their website, Hulu.com to see what type of cool shows and movies that are free for watching.)  Now we have nearly finished the second season.  Man I hate getting into a good series so early.  This means that we will have to wait for them to actually make the next season so we can watch it.  I am wishing that the technology from Spaceballs the movie was here.  You know watch the movie before it is actually made.  Unfortunately it does not exist.  Just to throw yet another wrench in the works, NBC has not yet made up their minds about whether Chuck will be back on next year.  It should be anytime now.  sigh.  I would urge anyone to give this show a chance, if you like it there are forums out there to fight to keep this on the air.  Do your part and speak up.

The cast is mainly unknowns (but they do a fantastic job):

Zachary Levi – Chuck

Yvonne Strahovki – Sara (ooh la la)

Joshua Gomez –Morgan (everyone has a best friend like this)

Ryan McPartlin – Devon (Captain Awesome)

Mark Christopher Lawrence – Big Mike

Sarah Lancaster – Ellie Bartowsky (Chuck’s sister)

Adam Baldwin – Major John Casey (probably my favorite character.  Adam Baldwin also does some speaking roles in Halo 3.  **That is two credits right there.)

Their are guest appearances often (Chevy Chase, Scott Bakula, Carl Lumbly, Morgan Fairchild , and Bruce Boxleitner.  You would know them if you see them.)  Visit this site to see more characters, pix,  and for some info and the actors.
