My new rank in Halo 3

I have finally gained the rank of General in Halo 3.  Unfortunately, I did not get it through sheer merit.  I obtained it through experience.  Thus, diligence and perseverance (and a whole lot of Halo games, over 2200 EXP) earned me the new ranking.  Yea one could argue time wasted, but it actually is time spent with some good friends and some real jerks.  Surprisingly, the latter seems to be in the ages of 18 and younger.  This ranking only applies to my Team Slayer playlist which means I have the opportunity to redeem myself in other playlists.  Hey, at least I am not a Staff Captain.

Well Here I Go Again

          my broken xbox

Those nasty little Xbox devils strike again!

My Xbox just decided to go down again.  I started to play a little Halo 3, when all of a sudden the picture got weird.  I decided to reboot the system and then I got no picture what so ever.  Now I am without Halo and the carnage that goes along with it.  Microsoft says they will have the console back to me within 2 to 3 weeks.  Man that seemed like an eternity last time.  Thank God that I took out the extended warranty.  That is the bright side to this story.  This repair will cost my nothing.  Still Microsoft should offer some consolidation for the time that I do not have my game system operable.  I am really starting to wonder just how long this will last after I get this next one back.  I am also starting to doubt the quality of the system itself.  The applications and flexibility are awesome, but it sure seems to go down often.  My Atari lasted over 15 years before I sold it.  My Nintendo lasted up until I sold it also.  They just don’t make ‘em like they used to.  So for now, I am Halo-less.  I cannot play with my friends online or trash talk the enemies that I beat, sigh, whimper whimper….

Halo Trilogy…No More

The supposed Halo trilogy has broken ground on expanding their terrain.  For all the fans of Halo you know that Halo Wars was released in March.  It royally blew.  If you are a big fan of Warcraft type of games it blew a little less.  For the rest of us it is just awful.  Now we have the upcoming release of Halo ODST.  This is the next in line of the series except it stars a soldier other than Master Chief.  Players now take control of less confrontational characters and more emphasis towards stealthy actions.  Many weapons get silencers and low vision goggles are available.  It goes back in time to a period during the Flood and has many of the same features that is loved by Halo fans everywhere.  If ODST’s release was just not enough, Bungie has announced that in 2010 a new Halo will be unveiled.  This is called Halo Reach.  It will be released in Beta format.  This is exactly the same way that the current Halo 3 was unveiled.  Very few details have been confirmed, next to none actually, but the planet Reach is vital in the Halo books and the books are starring a character named John-117 (aka Master Chief).  All of the events portrayed in this literature are preceding Halo: Combat Evolved, the first Halo game.  Thus it may be assumed that this places and characters along with the timeline will be predominate in the new release.  A full story is here at T3.com.  Bungie did release a small film clip to whet our appetites which is on the Bungie.net website or on the above Youtube video box.

So how will this affect current Matchmaking scenarios?  Will Bungie start to ignore the current record setting Halo 3?  Will anyone even care about Halo 3 after these two games are released?  (ahem…Halo 2 anyone?….didn’t think so)  All we know is it is coming, Bungie is still working the full potential of the Halo Universe and that people will buy it.  Let’s hope it is not the same disappointment that Halo Wars is.

Welcome to the planet Reach/

Halo 3 Perfection !!!!!!!!

I have gotten one of these medals before, but it was a long time ago.  I did not even know what it was when I achieved it.  Up until now I have been making major efforts to re-attain this medal, and success at last.  A Perfection is to finish a Matchmaking round of Halo 3 getting 15 or more kills, sound easy right?  The trick is you also can’t die.  That is 12 minutes of game play warfare, people hunting you down through radar and following sniper tracers, and some just finding you by sheer luck.  Through all of this you have to get 15 kills and still not die!!!  Trust me, it is harder than it sounds.  So, hurray!  I finally got it.  The next big medal I am wanting is Killtrocity.  What is a Killtrocity you ask.  Kill 6 opponents within 4 seconds of each other.  Lets hope I get there sometime soon.

PERFECTION!!!

Note:  I do not consider Social Slayer matches as true medals.  The level of competition is much different.

Archos 504 …. man I love this thing

archos504

Here is the Archos shown with DVR/charging dock

Well Nathan has gifted me with a new toy.  It is an Archos 504.  This thing rox.  It has a massive 4.3 screen, wonderful graphics, and 80 GB of memory.  He also left his song collection on it (8000 plus songs, alright).  I stayed up late last night just figuring out what I could do with this.  One major thing is putting videos up on my blog as shown below.  Check this out and let me know what you think.

The X in Xbox

0512-0712-2717-5850#2 xbox3601sm 0512-0712-2717-5850

Well, I know that it has been a while since my last entry.  So I am now taking the opportunity to apologize.  Yes I have even been called a slacker and maybe it is well deserved.  I have recently starting selling on Ebay and man it has consumed my time. Anyway, now the matter at hand.

My Xbox, you know the system that I eat and breath for, has died.  Notice the little devils torturing it.  It is a sad day at my house.  Luckily I had enough forethought to take out the extended warranty and Microsoft is paying for everything. Whew!  So now that I am no longer able to play Halo for 2 to 3 weeks, I hope that is all it takes, I am finding other venues of entertainment and insomnia.  I thought about reading some books, but remembered my Wii and Playstation 2.  Sorry books, instant entertainment and bloody violence wins out again…muwhahaha.  So for all of my friends that I usually play with, (strong Austrian accent here) “I’ll be back”.

Feel free to write me at my email though.  See you soon.
